Thank you all for getting my "Sit in the Corner" on the pp page, most unexpected. A very quick picture today as I off the the first football match of the season, OK only pre-season friendly against Cardiff City.
Well I put my red coat on to blend in with our English post boxes, forget that these two were gold. Any town that had a gold medal winner in the last Olympics were allowed to paint a box golden, the town of Nailsworth had two winners.
As is my naughty way, I accosted a chap as he came out of a shop and asked if he would take my picture. He said "What if I said no", not a problem I replied as your'e not going anywhere. "Why" he asked, to which I replied, "I've blocked your car in", he took it with a smile and I released him.
All post boxes have the Royal Crest on them with the Kings or Queens initials. The two other beautiful ones on the top row are Queen Victoria with VR, as is the middle bottom one.
The one in the wall has GR for King George and the other has ER for our current Elizabeth II. The victorians are beautiful and were in the town of Cheltenham. Just thought, does this make me a Pillar of the Community.
Thank you for an interesting and very informative collage. I agree, the Victorian boxes are lovely. Co- incidently I only discovered "gold" post boxes last week when we stopped in Hay on Wye where they had a gold medallist in the Para Olympics. Fav.
wonderful commentary. love it
so lovely to see the old fashion letter boxes still in use. Wonder how often they are used these days.
