The Manor and it's Family Church. by ladymagpie

The Manor and it's Family Church.

I was out geocaching on Thursday and dropped down into a hidden valley, only one way in and one way out. I was in a beautiful park owned by the Lord of the Manor in days gone by.

Every Lord had his Manor, a bit like upstairs downstairs on the TV, and of course there is also the family church where the household would worship and the servants and farm workers would also attend.

This is Lasborough Manor and dates from 1319 whilst the church of St.Mary's was derelict by 1820 and had to be rebuilt in 1860. More recently it featured in the BBC TV series ‘’Lark Rise to Candleford’’.

View with the dark background

NOTE: I'm getting very frustrate with the 365project break down, it's happening to often now. Is anyone else having the same problem.
What a wonderful picturesque setting - Big fav for me!

Question: did churches, such as this one, have resident minister or was one shared in the area?

@byrdlip In the earlier years it would have been a individual vicar for that church, these days a vicar has several chrurches they look after.

Loved this capture loved both of the shows mentioned. As for problems I did experience some for a couple of days but seems ok now. I I was getting pictures in my feed that would've load. Then a lot of my pictures disappeared.

The dates are what fascinate me. To look into that picture and image the feet that have trod that path from Manor to church. Mind boggling.
