Torrential rain for the 3rd day running so I have been stuck in doors wandering between the settee, fridge and kettle. So I've had to dig out one capture from the other week when I was geocaching.
Don't tell anyone but it was hidden behind this trig point and I did get scratched a bit from the hedge, in fact I nearly fell into the hedge. Now you may well be asking what is a trig point, well here goes.
Before the days of GPS Trig points were a handy reference point for surveyors; trig points usually are a concrete structure with a metal disc inset at the top which supported a theodolite and from the trig point other positions could be surveyed relative to one's own or other trig points. Obviously when this was in use there wasn't a hedge.
Thank you for all your comments and FAV's, you are all stars, view with the dark surround. Pleased excuse me if I'm a bit late viewing your pictures, I doing my live coverage of the football.
UPDATE: We have just had our greatest win in the FA Cup against a league side:
As an old land surveyor here, I love this we have them here too in Virginia they were concrete and we would set up on an arrow in a corner, in Ohio many are ground level, or centerline of road in monument boxes!! Great image!!
Well done Forest Green! Love your Lillypad Idea. I told my daughter and trouble is they will be now known as Mum's Lillypads!! Like this picture . I often wondered what a geocache looked like
