After a little food shopping I stopped off at our local War Memorial on a very wet and windy day. The service of remembrance had taken placed and the wreaths had been laid and the people had made their way home.
I decided that I would take this picture and also two military graves in the churchyard behind. One is from WW1 and the other from WW2. The names will not be forgotten.
Left: Private Isaac Spruce Cripps, Royal Army Ordance Corps, killed in 1919 age 37 and left a wife and young family.
Right: Trooper Lionel F Brain, Royal Armoured Corps, killed in1943 aged just 20.
Just two local men, but so many more were killed for our country.
Thank you for all your comments and FAVs recently.
A wonderful and moving tribute to these brave men. I wonder what Private Cripps and Trooper Brain would think if they knew their names were being honored all over the world today. Thanks for sharing this. Fav.
So sad. My grandad was killed during WW1 when my Dad was a year old and my Dad survived WW2 only to die 6 years later when I was three. Having spent over 35 years as a Service wife myself, I am glad to day my husband is still around.
