After the storms the dam is overflowing. After so many years of drought and water restrictions in this city, this is a novel sight. Many people stop and watch - knowing just how important water is to our country. The noise and the mist the turbulance creates are fascinating.
I thought a high contrast shot like this would make an interesting HDR, - but in hindsight it is obvious that rapidly moving water is not suitable! (DOH!). Oh well, yet another lesson learnt the hard way!! :D
Wow, that's spectacular. You should tag it for the Ansel Adams theme (artist_adams I think). You could probably do HDR, then add the best exposure of the water on top and blend it in. I've done that with waterfalls. HDR and moving things don't mix too well.
@mikew Thanks Michael - I did try 'ghosting' but I could not get it to look realistic. I think I may have needed more than 3 exposures. I am laughing now, I can't believe I thought HDR would work!! :D
Fantastic Lyn! Isn't it good to see it flowing like this again. I remember years ago (I'm not saying how many but when I was little) that it used to always be like this.
