Impressionist painting is about "recreating the sensation in the eye that views the subject, rather than delineating the details of the subject." ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impressionism)
This photo is an inverted reflection shot across a dam at sunset - you can just see the bank on the lower right. The leaves floating on the water seem to be floating away from the reflected tree top, and the breeze is causing ripples that make the light jump & skip, recreating the sensation from a fleeting moment in time.
The 'focus' is more apparent when viewed large.
@redpants@billabonga@lyno@danielwsc@anwan Thanks for your comments! This is a little bit different in style - and it is probably the first time I understand Impressionism. I have found that the more photography I see, attempt & appreciate on my 365 journey, the more traditional 'art' I undertand. I really like the idea of creating the 'sensation in the eye' - it is very much how I think about the role of post-editing. :)
Hi Lyn. This is an amazing shot - really looks like a painting, well done. Well, I've attempted a couple more still life shots this week and I hope you think they're ok. I used the same subject matter as I really like their colours and textures. Anyhow, if you get a chance, would love to know what you think. I respect your skills and your input. Thank you. xxx
