A brief respite from the heat last night, with the temperature temporarily dropping with a lightening show but not much rain. Too slow to get the gear in the car & drive for a better view, this is from my back door. Darn it, those wires get me every time.....
Stunning lightening capture but darn those wires! I know the feeling of it seeming like too much work to go to a place with better fore and background!
@jgpittenger I have jumped in the car a few times now, & by the time I get there, the lightening is invariably finished & I then have no shot at all! :D
This reminds me of the electric storms we'd have in the Arizona Desert when I way in my teens and living there. They'd come for days before the Monsoon season set in, and we'd turn off the living room lights and watch the lightning crackle across the mountains! (We just don't get lightning storm like this in So California.
If misery loves company, we're plagues with the wires at the back of our yard, too. I often miss images I'd like if they weren't there, but the birds love them, so I try to make the most of that!
@Weezilou ha ha - funny you mention it - the birds here love the wires too ( although they also poop out a lot of weed seeds into my garden). I did get shoot some Little Corellas on the wires last week - which was a little unusual - http://canberrabirds.org.au/birds/little-corella/
I am happy I captured the lightening well enough, with or without wires!
@ltodd They're the prettiest little birds! We get doves, doves, a finch or two and more doves! It's a pretty drab palette! I hadn't thought of the seed "problem", but our wires are over a bank of ficus trees, so we feel no effect.
I kind of like the wires, they add to the shot.
