I've been trying to get a decent shot of a butterfly for a while now... Well, when I found this dead one while doing yard work today, I knew it was a 365 Photo Opp! Thought I'd make it famous in death - poor thing! I couldn't help but think of this Bon Jovi song. I'll take a decent butterfly shot any way I can get it! What beautiful colors, sad that's it's dead. I've been trying to get a bee shot forever and I thought I hit the jackpot the other day when I found a dead bee on the porch. I took him in and still haven't been able to capture that perfect shot!
What a beautiful species and a lovely way to pay honor to it! :) I'm fairly confident the only way I could photograph a butterfly would be if it were dead, but even then, I wouldn't be able to make it look as beautiful as you have!
such a nice tribute to this poor little butterfly. : ) really though it is great color and detail...if he were alive, there would have been some movement.
ow wow!! I just viewed it large, you are so right...so much more detail than it already has! I really do like how you kept the wood in the shot to add to it. I think I would have shot him from the topside, but this is really cool to see this view of him...don't know why I assume it is a male...

Poor thing! It has such eye-catching, pretty colors. You've captured its beauty wonderfully! (Getting a butterfly shot is something I hope to do too but they never stay still for me.)
The dead butterflies sure are easier to shoot and the ones that flit from flower to flower! I took a dead bee shot and it sure was easier and less stressful than the live bee shots I have taken!
That is an awesome close up! Enlarged you can see its tongue. I really like that effect! The details are outstanding!! Love its colors. I will have that song stuck in my head all day lol. fav
Wow! What an amazing find....incredible detail, too. It's always so sad to find a dead butterfly...they are so beautiful. I only found 2 all the time I've lived here and brought them in to keep. Fav!

Wow thats an unusal shot of a butterfly, you may pin my photos that you like. I have some catching up to do too. Mustering now finished for 5/6 weeks so housework and gardening to catch up on among other things. Don't stress too much about being behind we all have other lives to lead too.
Great capture of the poor thing. I guess even b utterflies tongues come out and hang there when they die? Ugh. but he is so bright and pretty! You did that focus thing that really made this shot. Fav for me!
