This photograph is an example of how not to take or edit a photograph! XD
I rely on natural light to take all my photographs and, clearly, it's not working in this case. The two darkest cats look like detail-less blobs and the lightest one is overexposed like whoa. I attempted to edit and made things worse. 8D
But I wanted to show you some tiny cats! These cat charms are made of polymer clay. I made them a few years ago. The eyes were the hardest to make since they are the smallest parts. As I made them by hand, they are all slightly different. My eyesight isn't as good as it was before and I don't think I can make them this tiny now if I tried.
That's a Singapore 50-cent coin. (Included for size comparison.) You are seeing the reverse side. It shows allamanda flowers, also known as yellow bell or buttercup flowers. They're a common sight here.
Trivia: Did you know that in Japan, cats don't say "Meow"? They go "Nyan!" or "Nyaa!" 8D
I would absolutely like to know you more and see all of your "tiny" things. Keep it clean here!! You keep amazing me every time I look at your photos. So much talent!! FAV
Such cute cats, amazing that you made them yourself! Thanks for the random fact about Japanese cats, I like that animals make different sounds in different countries, I'd only heard about cows sounding different before!
Wow, Livia you are so incredibly talented. Love these. And I know all about the eyesight--when I was young the eyes could see everything--today, not so much.
Very very cute! They look so neat that it's hard to believe they are handmade. I especially like the ones that look like they're made of marble or wood - purple, orange and wood-brown? What were they for, for earrings or? Ove here, cats say: mjäu! (but yeah, it still sounds like "meow" in english)
Wow.....you're good with PMC...very talented! I tried it once, and I was terrible and just didn't have the patience :-) Very creative.....I love the shot! :-)
If this is "how NOT to do it...." well, all I can say is, it's delightful! Your work is amazing. I'd love to buy one of those wonderful creations. My logo tells you why. :) "Nyaa!"
Well I think it's a lovely composition. You are still holding out on us, here is another one of your wonderful creative things that you have made. Are they charms for a necklace or bracelet. I love the cat sound story, is there a dictionary for cat sounds !
@hiiretips@jennywren They are just charms. I had intended to make them into cellphone straps but I never got around to doing that. So they're just sitting in one of my drawers where I keep all the stuff I've made with clay. The "marbled" effect is achieved by mixing 2-3 different colors of clay. It's a fun process. Jen, if you google around, you might find some webpages that list different cat sounds by country. 8)
Very cute! You did a nice job in the making of them. Thanks for the trivia too. The photo is definitely as bad as you see it, but we are usually our own worst critics!
of course the cats in japan don't meow. they're japanese!!! hahahaha! you crack me up, livia.
these are nice creations. to an untrained eye (or a strained eye like mine) they all look the same, like they were out of the same mould. one has to look real close to know they aren't. and if you say it's not a good photo, well, so far all the comments tell you otherwise. wonderful shot.
Love the cats and the pic of it. I often have that seem feelings when I see back something I`ve made in the past . I think you/mine minds/thoughts have to do with it. A part of being creative . And creative you are.
Thank you for you lovely compliment, I really appreciate it
yes this would be a challenge to edit - most likely you'd use dodge and burn so that you could selectively edit each different cat in turn. great capture and so impressed with your dexterity to make such tiny little critters with so much detail.
I love this photo, Livia. You are very talented and it came out great and very colorful. Like the additional info about cats in Japan. Works so well for the tiny theme.
Fun shot Livia, I can see why you aren't thrilled by it, but it is fun and I love those cats, especially if you made them!!! Don't be so hard on yourself!!
Wow. Those are incredible. Love your creativity! Great colors. Unless you said something, I would have never noticed the different exposures. Even now I still don't see it. I think the capture is great.
Love the way you presented your collection of colorful cats - great idea to use the coin to show how tiny they are. They look perfect - you have great skills.
A great, big, curly-tailed, kitty-endorsed, bright and colorful "THANK YOU!" to all!
Thank you for taking the time and thank you for your kind comments. Even though I made these little cats years ago, I still remember how much fun it was. I play less with polymer clay now, now that my eyesight isn't so good anymore. But I still like cute, tiny and colorful things!
Again, thank you so much. You are all very kind and encouraging, and I am grateful.
Beautiful charms and to think that you made them yourself. wow..they must be awful small to work with.
your 50 cent piece looks nice too..we only have 25, 10, 5 and 1 cent pieces here in Canada.
It's colorful , detailed one. FAV+++
Thanks for the tip about japan. Me going Japan next month :D I will figure this out :P
I got myself the polymer clay dragon book but haven't had the time to sit and concentrate on it yet. See - you're an inspiration! ;)
