This weaver ant appears to be saying, "Who left all this garbage on my nice clean leaf!?"
I am constantly amazed by what my Sony macro lens picks up. I am convinced my shots have nothing to do with my ability to use a camera. I just point and shoot. Click, click, click! And then I download my shots when I get home and I look through them and, although I go "Crappy shots, Livia! You suck!" at 90% of the photos, there's that 10% that makes me go, "Oooh!"
It makes me wonder, exactly when my luck with the camera will get all used up. Hopefully, after I've uploaded my 365th shot. But it's such a long way away. 8P
Unbelievably good. You must be a great photographer already if only 90% are crappy!! I think that if you know how to compose a shot, and you clearly do, luck plays a small part, skill a large part. This shot is skillful. Well done!!
Great shot, and I think that with time ever more of them will come out...even without realizing it, you are figuring out how to make this happen every time you use the camera. :-) I like the light on this ant very much
Livia, I don't think you're capable of taking a bad shot...I just ordered my macro lens and am hopeful I'll have it before the weekend. It's captures like that one that made me finally decide to retire my "faux-macro" and get the real deal. THIS IS AMAZING! Fav'd
What a great photo, Livia. You captured this ant so well. I have a Sony camera also, but cannot change lens on it. It does not have a Macro setting so I have to work with settings to get close ups. Never have gotten anything like this. FAV
We have a seeing : `` luck will go with those who don`t know.``. I do the same , take a lot of pic and choose for the best. If this is a lucky shot, lucky you.
Well done.
Wow....amazing capture. Stunning detail. And I would have to respectfully disagree with you. Though your camera may provide some nice macro abilities, its your fantastic, brilliant, amazingly creative mind that decides what to capture. You truely are an artist behind the lens. And on top of that...you have a great sense of humor, which is more important then anything. Fav
If I may Livia - perhaps you need to learn that 10% is a great hit rate and that as you seem able to consistently produce images as good as this it's not luck anymore? Just a thought :)
I hope you dont think, that these amazing photos are just luck, sometimes we are in the right place at the right time but it takes a good eye and a lot of skill to get something like this. Fav
@redrucksack I use the Sony 30mm f/3.5 macro lens because it's made for my Sony NEX-C3, which is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera (it's not a dSLR).
Awesome Macro Livia! I am 100% sure its the photographer and not the camera!! Even with the best camera you are going to get alot of crappy shots but your eye that see's the photo is what makes you a great Photographer not the camera!!
I read your story. You will never lose your touch with the camera. I've learned there is always something to photograph. What an amazing macro and the caption is so perfect! Fabulous and a fav.
A great, big, sharply focused, well magnified, lucky and grateful "THANK YOU!" to everyone!
Thank you so much for stopping by. Thank you so much for your encouragement! I'm bowled over by your response to this ant shot. This ant was on a leaf all by his lonesome. A few leaves away were all his buddies—there were at least 70 or 80 of them, all being very busy, all weaving leaves together. I avoided them, looked around and found this one. He seemed really thoughtful and I figured I should take his portrait.
Without your generous support, I would not have made it this far in my project. Thank you. Your comments are a constant source of inspiration and encouragement for me. Thank you so much!
Fabulous shot. I can't comment on every single photo you have posted here but ,in spite of your self deprecating comments , you are clearly a very talented photographer. I've just got to follow you!
@boogie This was taken with my Sony mirrorless interchangeable lens camera and macro lens, not with my Lumix P&S. Although the Sony camera is not a dSLR, it's considered a bridge camera, as it offers better quality photos than a P&S but isn't as good as a dSLR. Still, this was a handheld shot and I was using the autofocus function. I always do. 8)
Great photo, such clear detail. I think this macro lens is amazing, you seem to get such close ups with it. However you have to have the eye too, which you so do.
Fabulous shot Livia, I am sure it is your skill and your photographic eye that drives your photos. Good equipment helps but you are the one taking the fabulous shots!
Well done.
