Getting Into The Picture

286 / 365
I was headed out of the park, done for the morning and about to return my camera to my bag, when I spotted this snail on the stone path. I couldn't resist shooting it because, ever since my first and last snail shot in May (which was a total disaster), I'd wanted to try again.

This time, I'm happy with my shots. So much so that, you might get another one tomorrow. XD

Did you know that the eyes of land snails are on the ends of their upper tentacles? They are primitive eyes that detect only light and shadow.

Speaking of light and shadow, I wonder, are you a day person or a night person? I'm a night owl. I feel more alive at night than I do in the daytime. It's cooler and quieter, and I like being awake while everyone else is asleep. 8D

Did you know they have little teeth on their tongues to scrape off bits of plant? They eat a huge portion of my garden but after growing up in desert I still find them amazing. My son will have a banana slug as his college mascot. Same critter almost but with the shell under the skin.
posted September 1st, 2012
@gizathecat Love banana slugs. The scouts here challenge each other to lick them because the slime paralyzed your swallowing ability for awhile

I had a blast shooting this snail. I really liked how it was moving slowly across this stone path, which has beautiful textures. Again, thank you! Please know that I am grateful for your support and encouragement.

78 shots to go!

Another great shot Livia. I'm a night owl, I often work thru' the night if I can' sleep. I deal with the Far East in my main business so it sometimes makes sense to.
posted September 5th, 2012
I do not really like snails, but this picture is awesome in every way. I particularly love the composition as it really sums up a "snail's pace". As for the day/night question. I'm more productive during the day. I've always said I'm an afternoon kind of person. I'm not up at the crack of dawn. It takes awhile for me to get rolling. But I'm fairly on the go just a bit before noon and all the way to the close of the day. But every once in a while I do enjoy the stillness of the night when everyone else is asleep and it's just me putzing around the house.

@claireuk "Regular"!? BWAAHAHAHA. Nope. You're such an optimist, Claire! Anyway, I'm on Jumping Spiders Week, and I'm happy to be under the radar again, because spider shots are never popular. I don't care, because I love my little jumpers! Can't get enough of them. 8D

Morning, sorry it 8:30 ish here; on my morning news this morning they were telling us that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were going to Singapore today; they are starting a tour of Asia for the Queens Jubilee. For the story one of the reporters was in the park where you shoot the supertrees, wonder if they are going to visit there? You may see them, or run in oppositer direction due to crowds;0)
posted September 11th, 2012
@claireuk Yes, they are scheduled to visit the Botanic Gardens (to be presented with the orchids that are named after them) today as well as the Gardens by the Bay tomorrow. I'm avoiding the place. I'm sure security will be tight. If you like to see them, there are already photographs of William and Kate at the Botanic Gardens: http://sg.news.yahoo.com/photos/will-and-kate-in-singapore-slideshow/ They are such a beautiful couple! 8)
posted September 11th, 2012
@myautofocuslife Wow, fabulous shots thank you so much for that link. There are indeed a gorgeous couple. I would go in the opposite direction to, too many people, too crowded for me. Thanks again for the link:0)
