This butterfly was waiting very patiently to dry its wings. If you view it large, you may be able to see the tiny dewdrops, close to the upper edges of its wings.
I cropped and composed it this way, and I like it. (I did take photos that show the wings fully.) But a part of me wonders if this is the stupidest thing to do with a butterfly shot. XD
The crop is exquisite Livia, Now I would be happy to see a series of Singaporean butterflies from you, interspersed with a few jumping spiders, some BJD's, some Professor Layton, and the surprises that you spring on us all too! Not that I want to map your project out for you eh;)) I will not see another butterfly in the UK now for at least 6 months, so you are my only hope!
@seanoneill *LOL* Butterflies may be a lot larger but I find them even harder to shoot than jumping spiders! They rarely stay still for me. May I recommend this local blog, Butterflies of Singapore, because it has fantastic photos and information? http://butterflycircle.blogspot.sg/
If I had my way, I'd post nothing but jumping spiders. Unfortunately, they are not that easy to find and shoot, so I can't be posting one every day. I wish I could though!
No I don't think so, because this shot makes you take a second look. I think we get so used to seeing them in full we don't always look at them. But because you only see one wing in full here, your eyes pays more attention to the detail. I think it's perfect.
@esox We do, but most of the time I'm too slow to shoot them. If you'll like to see more butterflies from my part of the world, please allow me to recommend this local blog: http://butterflycircle.blogspot.sg/
Oooh I like it! Nice and different :) Ps... I saw a jumping spider on my ceiling in my kitchen this afternoon. Unfortunately my camera was downstairs and he'd disappeared by the time I got back! Was one of the green punk haired ones lol. Or gorilla as I like to call them. Will keep an eye out for him, not sure why he ventured in.
A great, big, dew-covered, experimental, oddly composed, bright and colorful "THANK YOU!" to everyone! I appreciate that you have taken time out of your busy schedules to stop by and leave an encouraging comment. Thank you so much.
Not stupid~! I like to see close up on them sometimes, which requires you crop out some 'stuff." I have done it before...this looks great and even better magnified!

Thank you for you so nice comment on my last pic.
