Michael Kors: "People want to look taller and thinner. No one says, 'Ooh! Let me buy that dress because it makes me feel matronly!' "
How tall is tall enough, though?
I've always wanted to be 1 or 2cm taller. Right now (even though the last time I was measured was some 30 years ago when I was still in school) I'm 1.65m. Which is the height The Husband professes to be. Which can't be right because, when we stand together, it's apparent that I'm taller than him. XD
But we've never let the height issue bother us. When I was a teenager, I wanted to marry someone tall and handsome. (Doesn't every girl!? 8P ) Even better if he looked like Han Solo! HAHA. As it turns out, real life is full of surprises. The Husband may not be tall and Han Solo-like, but he makes me laugh, he accepts me for who I am, he tolerates my crazy habits, he does not try to change me in any way and, in doing all that, he makes me want to be a better person. I am one of the luckiest women on earth to be married to him.
So I tell Mr Bottle, there is no need to be taller. Someone will love you for who you are. 8) (How tall is Mr Bottle? All of 3.5cm. )
PS. Some of you may recognize Mr Bottle, some of you may not. He's appeared in my project before.
I have always wanted to be taller! I work in old money so I am 5' 4" just! If I was taller but weighed the same I would not be so bothered! Met himself when I was 13 so never imagined marrying anyone else, not even popstars.........................says a lot
Great to see Mr B back - now stop with the counting down;0)
I read "forty days" and forgot about Mr. Bottle's height issue! I want to see your photos and read your comments forever ... and I am very satisfied with my height. Never gave it much thought. That is, until I read Mr. Kors irritating "statement!" :)
Nice image and even nicer message - I gave up worrying about not being taller many, many decades ago. Trick to life is being comfortable in your own skin...
I love this photo... And your words. I'm about 1,60, so quite short, but it's never bothered me. Why worry about things you can't change? And I refuse to wear heels, they are too uncomfortable. I teach teenagers and, quite often, I'm the shortest person in class. Which is a great excuse to get them to hang things on the wall/clean the blackboard...
haha this is cute. I have always been tall. Right from grade 6 until now, my height has never changed...and i am 5 foot 8 inches. lol. So, i was a giant in my elementary school days. lol.
Mr. Bottle is pretty awesome. I'm 5'7 (and a half!), and my love is 6'3, so quite a height difference, but I can literally hide behind him and not be seen, so it works for me ;)
Nice to see Mr Bottle again! He certainly doesn't need to worry about his size. I cannot believe a year is almost gone. I have only 8 more pictures to go! :-)
Love this. Mr. Bottle is very cute--I'm sure there will be more with him. And, I LOVE WHAT YOU WROTE. Life doesn't always turn out like we thought--and in most cases, we are pretty lucky it doesn't.
He's cute, no matter how tall! I'm 5'11 (or 178cm) and with heels even more. :D (And yes, I'm single and still looking for the guy who's taller than I am, heh.)
Mr. Bottle is rather cool, short or not!
My sister used to have a poster which stated "I'm not over weight - I'm under tall!"
It's good that you're happy and have a wonderful OH - I have one that makes me feel like that too :)
Being tall's not all that, you know. Yes you can see over crowds but once you've bashed your head on half a dozen low ceilings and door frames... well... ;)
It's so.nice to see mr bottle again. He is just right as he is. I am 5ft 2in but never felt a shorty. I always regarded tall people as just being taller, not that I was shorter than them. Height could definitely be an advantage when trying to get a good shot over peoples heads!
well, i thought the saying was: "you can never be too rich or too thin"... at a mere 5'2" i have mostly not felt a need to be taller ;p but i do like your photo and the story that goes along with it... very sweet message for your husband :)
Such a fabulous setup Livia and at just over 5ft tall I have always yearned to be taller - although I do well on planes and buses where leg room is limited - must look for the positives ;-)
I can tell you I'm shorter than you, Livia, but happy as I am. At least it's not to difficult to pick up objects from the floor, haha.
I love Mr Bottle.
Love the simplicity and message behind this shot Livia =) im only 5,1" but im cool with that, my hubby is a whole foot taller than me....works for us! =)
Hello Mr Bottle! I have missed you! Yes it was me Livia - Thank you for your message! I love him just how he is at 3.5cm! As a 5ft 9 gal I've always wanted to be smaller but I think everyone goes through wanting something different when growing up - now I love being tall!
Such lovely lovely words about your husband xx
Mr. Bottle is just right for a bottle! I never gave much thought to my height. I guess I realized there was not much I could do about it. However, now that I'm older I have lost a couple inches (which is normal) so that explains why I used to be able to reach some things and I can't. And thankfully I have a husband like yours who loves me for who I am and who is very patient while I take "just one more shot".
A great, big, full-of-wishful-thinking, Mr Bottle-approved "THANK YOU!" to all for stopping by! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the subject. I enjoyed reading every comment. Thank you so much for your constant support. It helps!
Very well done in your studio. Nice lighting and a slight mark of a shadow. Fine composition at that too. And, certainly, the problem of height you touched in. It seems it concerns many people in the world.
Thanks for this picture, it has made me not feel so short cause there are so many other people here of similar height to me! im 152cm which i always thought was 5'1 or 2" but having just converted it its only 5 foot!!
@psychographer me and my hubby are the same!! but im 5foot and he's 6'4" :)
Great to see Mr B back - now stop with the counting down;0)
I especially like the 'does not try to change me' bit. :)
My sister used to have a poster which stated "I'm not over weight - I'm under tall!"
It's good that you're happy and have a wonderful OH - I have one that makes me feel like that too :)
Love the set up, composition and transparency. Very clever.
I love Mr Bottle.
