This tiny grasshopper was munching happily on a not-yet-open hibiscus flower. You can see that its eyes are about the same size as the pollen sacs on the stamens. There is a larger version to view if you'll like to see more details.
Yesterday, I was jumped on by two different jumping spiders while trying to shoot them. I was feeling slower and more shaky than usual though, and have no good shots to show you. Some days are like that, when I feel like I'm moving my extra heavy hands through water trying to focus on these tiny subjects. I hope I can finish my project properly before I lose all my reflexes. 8P
@jlhopgood I can say for sure I hope to return after a break but I can't say for sure I will. I want to get back to my other hobbies first, so I really don't know. XD
Beautiful macro! Sorry to hear about the troubles with your hands! I have arthritis in mine but so far I am able to work with the camera. Your photography has opened the door to a very tiny world for me. I do hope you continue in some way, but certainly understand the draw to do other things as you are such a multi-talented artist!
Now you stop with that countdown....unless it's a countdown until how long until you START year 2! Love your shots. Great capture of this young grasshopper.....someday he, too, shall have knowledge! lol
@tonygig I use the Sony 30mm f/3.5 macro lens but it's a macro lens that's really more suited to shooting inanimate objects than living subjects like insects and spiders. The working distance of a 30mm lens means I have to get "kissing distance" close to the bugs if I want details in my shot. Most of the time, I'm just scaring my subjects away. XD
Great close-up. Amazing detail as always. 39 days! You have come a long way and you have been doing a fantastic job. I am 4 days behind you and have followed you for the majority of this project..I look forward to the rest of your photos.
A great, big, colorful, flowery "THANK YOU!" to everyone. This little grasshopper was so intent on eating his pollen, that I don't think he even noticed me. He just kept right on munching! Thank you for your constant support and encouraging words. I am grateful for them.
You are so close to the finish line!
