Focus by myautofocuslife

Focus

This tiger moth, which is a day flying moth, was so enthusiastic and focused on feeding on the nectar, it just about burrowed itself into the flower. As for my shot, the focus is on the tips of its antennae and the parts of its wings within that narrow depth of field. I like it, but I'm not sure if it works or if it's hard to look at. Would you have preferred to see the entire moth in focus? XD

lovely colours and interesting patterns.

Love, love these colors and your dof! Such a cool moth, too! Nice!

October 18th, 2012
Very pretty colours. I like how the antennae look similar to the stamen.
October 18th, 2012
It works, but on this shot I need a little more in focus. Go back and see if it's still there. lol
October 18th, 2012
Once a side step to experimented isn`t bad at all. You `ve to decide for yourself of you like it or not .
Take mine opinion for what it`s worth : I like it in this pic.

October 18th, 2012
Love the pattern and colour! i love the shape, looks like an arrow.
October 18th, 2012
Beautiful capture. I like the way you have focused this...it really lets us know that it is down deep in the flower and not just sitting on top.
October 18th, 2012
At first I thought it was a bit out of focus then read on you focused on the antenna, it works but myself would prefer to see all of the moth in focus.
October 18th, 2012
Great focus on those antennae. I agree with tony--it's what you like. This works for me.
October 18th, 2012

October 18th, 2012
What a busy little crittur!! I would like the while moth in focus too but sometimes that is not possible unless you step back and then crop
October 18th, 2012
I like it! I especially like the contrasting colors! Just lovely.

Beautiful colours of the moth and flower, so pretty.

Beautiful capture!
October 18th, 2012
Love the colors and composition on this one. I like the focus, it's something different =)
October 19th, 2012
Great colour combination! I like the DOF you've got here - that might change if you changed your focus, right?
October 19th, 2012
I would like more of the moth in focus but I was so amazed by the pattern that at first I didn't notice any of the blur.
October 19th, 2012
I think it's beautiful. Focus doesn't bother me at all.
October 19th, 2012
I agree I think it is beautiful also.
October 19th, 2012
it is up to the photographer on which area to focus...this works for me!

October 19th, 2012
An interesting contrast in colors.

Lin
I find it harder to look at, I think! My analysing brain wants to interpret the head... if I give up on that and focus on the colours and patterns, it's beautiful. I guess it depends on how one looks at pictures.
October 19th, 2012
I like it this way!
October 19th, 2012
Nat
Love him Livia!
October 19th, 2012

Mel
to be honest, I would prefer more in focus as im not sure where to look, but i love the colours and composition :)
October 19th, 2012
It's a beauty, but I would prefer more of the moth in focus!
October 19th, 2012
I really like the colors and composition but since I'm not a true expert, I wouldn't have even noticed the focus. Looks fine to me ;-)
October 19th, 2012
Since you asked, Livia - I would have preferred to see the entire moth in focus. It is a lovely composition but the focus seems off to me.
October 19th, 2012
I like it but I did think at first that it was a bit out of focus. Once I read your description I noticed that the antennae were focused too. Overall though I think I would prefer the moth more in focus
October 19th, 2012
Great colours, very beautiful.
October 19th, 2012
I love the colors!
October 19th, 2012
gorgeous shot! love the colors!
October 19th, 2012
Beautiful!
October 19th, 2012
I looks like the end of a dart, its a great shot, its hard isn't it to get the focus right on such tiny things when you only have a narrow plain of focus to play with, I think you did well.
October 19th, 2012
I love the softness of this shot
October 19th, 2012
Gorgeous colours! =)
October 19th, 2012
I love it. It looks so cool with the focus very detailed.
October 20th, 2012
A great, big, heartfelt "THANK YOU!" to everyone for stopping by! I've read your opinions and suggestions, thank you for sharing them, they are very much appreciated. Sometimes I just like to do things a little differently, just because, just to explore the possibilities. I am grateful for your time and constant support!
October 20th, 2012
Love his colours ...and how he is totally oblivious to everything but the task in had...l think you focus point is a bit lost because its quite busy there, so maybe the whole moth in focus....but l like that you managed to get the antennae focused :)
October 21st, 2012
This is lovely. Great colours. Nice shot.
October 21st, 2012
Gorgeous shot xx
October 21st, 2012
Just catching up after being away... These moths are so pretty (we have them here in Oz, too) that I guess I'd like to see this one fully in focus because of the lovely markings. Having said that, of course you must experiment and go with what works for you.

Fabulous

Beautiful capture. Amazing color and pov. That's definitely one of the hardest parts when taking photos of butterflies. With a narrow dof, what part is most essential to capture? In this case, I think your focus works. Helps show that the butterfly is burrowing into the flower for food
October 24th, 2012
I do like these guys, but I think you may have just missed the focus point on this one... ;)
