This tiger moth, which is a day flying moth, was so enthusiastic and focused on feeding on the nectar, it just about burrowed itself into the flower. As for my shot, the focus is on the tips of its antennae and the parts of its wings within that narrow depth of field. I like it, but I'm not sure if it works or if it's hard to look at. Would you have preferred to see the entire moth in focus? XD
Once a side step to experimented isn`t bad at all. You `ve to decide for yourself of you like it or not .
Take mine opinion for what it`s worth : I like it in this pic.
At first I thought it was a bit out of focus then read on you focused on the antenna, it works but myself would prefer to see all of the moth in focus.
I perfer this soft look ... very dreamy! Beautiful pov and lovely colors. I think that it's GREAT to for different effects. I'm experimenting daily (almost) hoping to find what I like to do the best.
I find it harder to look at, I think! My analysing brain wants to interpret the head... if I give up on that and focus on the colours and patterns, it's beautiful. I guess it depends on how one looks at pictures.
I like it but I did think at first that it was a bit out of focus. Once I read your description I noticed that the antennae were focused too. Overall though I think I would prefer the moth more in focus
I looks like the end of a dart, its a great shot, its hard isn't it to get the focus right on such tiny things when you only have a narrow plain of focus to play with, I think you did well.
A great, big, heartfelt "THANK YOU!" to everyone for stopping by! I've read your opinions and suggestions, thank you for sharing them, they are very much appreciated. Sometimes I just like to do things a little differently, just because, just to explore the possibilities. I am grateful for your time and constant support!
Love his colours ...and how he is totally oblivious to everything but the task in had...l think you focus point is a bit lost because its quite busy there, so maybe the whole moth in focus....but l like that you managed to get the antennae focused :)
Just catching up after being away... These moths are so pretty (we have them here in Oz, too) that I guess I'd like to see this one fully in focus because of the lovely markings. Having said that, of course you must experiment and go with what works for you.
Beautiful capture. Amazing color and pov. That's definitely one of the hardest parts when taking photos of butterflies. With a narrow dof, what part is most essential to capture? In this case, I think your focus works. Helps show that the butterfly is burrowing into the flower for food
