It was cute and shy and it spent some time at the edge of the leaf looking down. I wanted to say, "You can do it, you were born to jump, go on!" XD
There's a larger version to view if you're so inclined.
Did you know that a jumping spider anchors and lets out a dragline (a thread of spider silk) when it jumps? This is so that, if it should miss landing where it was headed, it could return to its previous location.
A few times, I've had a jumping spider jump on to my lens. I would blow at it, and it would fall off but dangle at the end of its dragline, swinging in mid-air. It usually takes another swing of my arm to get it off. 8D One time, though, it swung from my lens to my T-shirt. XD
Big decision for this wee little one. That face is captivating viewed large. I just can't get over it. Excellent shot, Livia...one of the best and a fav.
I think that it's saying, "But Mom, I don't want to jump!" lol Fantastic capture. I love the "wee one" surrounded by all that green. Always love your comments ....the little thread of silk sounds almost like a "bungee cord!"
What a cutie. Most of us are on the edge and making that same decision with all the challenges in life. Do we stay in our comfort zone or jump into the unknown?
@frida I use the Sony 30mm f/3.5 macro lens with my mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. But if you're thinking about getting a macro lens, do get one with a longer focal length (say, 100mm). It will enable you to work from a greater distance with bugs and such. 8)
A fav for sure, Livia! What an incredible encounter! I love the look on the female monkey. Looks like she's nodding off, while the male is so intent on grooming her. Just great!
A great, big, quiet and contemplative "THANK YOU!" to everyone for stopping by. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. The little spider did eventually jump, and that signalled the end of the shoot as he had reached a place I couldn't access with my camera. Again, thank you, I appreciate your kindness and support.
Thank you for you visit , you nice commend and kind wishes.
Great catch.
