Great timing, I have to try negative space for my push challenge this week, it is harder than I thought! Saw this photo in your email this morning.....great example and not one I'd have thought of as an interpretation!
This is fascinating and slightly mind-bending - Thank you for the link. - I love the texture, roughness, and strength, of the stone in comparison with the tidy bevel and the dark density of the arrow slot.
@prttblues - An arrow slot is one of these slots in the wall of a castle. It overlooks a place where an assault on the castle is likely, a front entrance for example. The slot allows archers to shoot the assaulting soldiers from relative safety behind the wall.
The negative space as the subject? Interesting idea..... very effective. Cool textures and b&w too.
Never been to Bodiam castle - one to go on the places to visit list, I think.
I am in love with these old castles and what they stood for. Democracy was a nil in those days - the stronger always dominated the weaker. Beautifully captured.
