@jennywren - Interesting ask. She was at a sitting for my photoclub session. I run a portrait photography session every year so members can get some tips and hints on portrait work. She was actually a bell ringer who came in for the first part of the session. The wall is the hall where we hold the club meetings. She seems a beautiful character in the portrait. I don't know her, but she came over really well on camera.
A very compelling and delightful expression. I'd thought the wall was a backdrop - the tonal variations in the bricks seem to me to mimic ripples in fabric in places.
