oh! i just saw this. how much he has grown. what a handsome boy. love that expression. like, i am on pause, don't touch my bone, i am just looking at something. look at his mouth! so enjoy dogs. they say so much without saying a word.
@catsmeowb - yes, they are fun and great to have around. Some scientists say dogs don't have expressions. But any dog owner will say they do... go figure. LOL.
@netkonnexion i watched a video a few months back where people told their dogs they were good dogs - video taped them before and after. in every video, after the dog was told it was a good dog, it smiles. every one. i am constantly told i give my dogs human characteristics and that Lola can not have a three-year-old's ability to understand language. Next time I tell her to wait a minute and go sit down somewhere and she sits in my chair then rocks back and forth? Mmmnnn, I have to think about that.
@catsmeowb - Yes, Branston is pretty bright too. He responds to around 30 one-word commands and is able to pick up all sorts of nuances. If we tell him to 'find' one of the family by name he will do so, and then 'smile' when praised for it. I know they have an emotional life, I think they have expressions too.
This really shows what a powerful dog he is. Those haunches, muscles, back ridge really stand out. Lovely shine and detail of his fur. Interesting to hear about the smile. No longer have dogs so can't try it out!
