Todays object is partially obscured to make it a little more difficult - what is it? Have fun!

Yestderday you saw...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes! It was a brass abacus. Actually little more than a paperweight in most modern offices it was once the only calculator that was available.
I think I am being far to easy on you all, but I am having difficulty finding subjects from my bed! Hold on in there - I will be back!
Since most people got it again I will congratulate you all in one hit. Well done!!! YahaY!!!
Honorable mentions to...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Arthur Loosley - You can count on it! Net says:-->> Nicely pointed out Arthur!
Howard N - Have not used one in years since I was taught how to use the calculator on my cell phone... but I do fall back from time to time, to my ABACUS! Net says:-->> Ever the smarty pants... You actually know how to use one? LOL>... Got me beat then.
Paula Brumbe - my old fashioned non solar portable calculator that I like to whip out every time I write a check in order to balance my account. Net says:-->> Another smart one! Well, you wouldn't 'whip' this one out. It weighs nearly a kilo! LOL.
mittens (Marilyn) - ...or maybe a fancy pin ball machine. Net says:-->> Loved that idea. A "Doohicky Award!" YahaY!!!!
Paula Cook-Farkas - ...but I was also leaning heavily towards ball bearing storage cabinet. Net says:-->> Loved this one too. Another "Doohicky Award!" everyone... YahaY!!!! LOL.
Liz (fotomama) - Abacas(sp?) anyway what u use when ur smart phone or cheap dime store calculator breaks down and u didn't take the time to learn the BIG math in school. Net says:-->> Not me! I have no idea how to use one. I am a technocrat and proud!!! LOL.
Steven Galvin ace
Mmmmm. My Dad used to have a tie pin that was a very very small abacus. Perhaps it's that? Net says:-->> A tie pin!?! ROFL ... A kilo tie pin???! Wow! That's worth a "Doohicky Award!" YahaY!!!! LOL...
Sue Wilde - Very early computer. Invented, I believe, by the Chinese. Net says:-->> And variously re-invented or stolen by the Japanese, Mongolians, Greeks, Romans, some Middle Eastern nations and latterly the Europeans. The abacus preceded the first true mechanical computer, the Astrolabe, by about 1500 years. Can you tell that one of the chapters of the book I am writing is about the history of computing? Zzzzz...Zzzzz...Zzzzz... No, you can't, you have all fallen asleep. LOL.
Jen E - Ohhh an abacus! This is one of my kids' favorite toys and the nerd in me is not minding at all. Net says:-->> Wow! Your kids play with an abacus? Thats cool! Tonights special award goes to Jen E - "The Mathematical Mother Award". Yahaaay!!! LOL...
Thanks for stopping by. So many people have wished me well during my illness - thank you. Things are improving. I will be back to comment on your photos once I get my strength back.
