Identify This No. 109

This individual object is of pre-WWII origin. However, its like is still used in many places worldwide and has been around for many centuries. What is it?

Another easy one. A copper bracelet. Much talked up as a relief for inflammatory ailments like arthritis and rheumatism. I tried it to no avail. Might help some people - you never know. My guess is probably not.

Everyone seemed to get the idea. Well done... er, pretty much everyone!

Honorable mentions...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Paula Brumbe - If only the ancient magnetic powers of the copper banding could save our joints. Seems that an entire full set of copper armor will not help. I do think it is the modern version of hope in a copper bracelet that was originally first marketed by my family and their tall tales. Net says:-->> LOL - OK I get the idea. Its a copper braclet. Tee hee.
Nancy Holte - Copper bracelet for those who suffer with inflammation issues (I think that's why people use them.) Hey, maybe I should get one! Net says:-->> Try it. Cheap and cheerful, but you have to spend ages scrubbing off the copper deposits the next day. LOL Everything has its downside.
Shirley Chetwynd - copper bracelets for arthritis.....fish oil is supposed to relieve aching joints and is good for the heart, my heart is slightly enlarged i wonder if it will shrink it back to normal. Net says:-->> Tried fish oil and got a little relief. Variable result tho'. In my case the problems I have are injury related so it is not certain it would have an effect on an inflammatory disease.
Vicki K - A chastity belt. Net says:-->> Excellent! Would have to fit the smallest waist in the world! LOL - could be tho' - a "Doohicky Award!" Yahooo!
Pyrrhula - I do kids to make this on school A copper bracelet . They make it with there name in it. Net says:-->> Cool idea. I made a tea spoon like that at school. a "Doohicky Award!" Yahoo!
Mike Warren - Rusted metal collar for something. Net says:-->> Yes! To restrain insane "Identify This" followers! LOL... Like it. A Doohicky award!
Howard N - Everyone on this side of the pond knows what that is. It is a magic copper bracelet that among other things wards off evil spirits, lowers your golf handicap and relieves 'heart-burn.' If you stay up late enough you may even catch a re-run info-mertial... and, if you purchase now, we will send you both a left hand and right hand model, for just the additional shipping!!! Net says:-->> Excellent. LOL> Nice one. Love the handicap idea. A doohicky award! Yeeeeeeeeoooow!
Kathy A - The old magic fixer of sickness and pain to be worn around the wrist. Net says:-->> Right! Except it never fixed anything for me. But I may not be typical... in fact thinking about it I am definitly not typical. Hey, perhaps I should wear one around my head to get my brain inflammation down! LOL> Nice one Kathy! a "Doohicky Award!" Yahhhhhhhhho!
Well done everyone. Quite a good laugh from this one. Thanks for dropping by.
Hi again Damon - These are fun! In my part of the world we call it an "ice chuck"; it is used to grab blocks of ice cut from a frozen river, or from the back of an ice truck, etc. Be well, Les
Ice gaff?
It's for picking up bales of hay. :-) Or killing young people in horror flicks.
September 8th, 2011
I would say ice pick but like the idea of bales of hay too. Whichever it is it makes for a nice photo
Oh, this is all the rage on Farmville, and it seems my quick google search of hay bale carrier or non motorized weed wacker is only showing me how to use a red shovel on Farmville for Facebook. So my official answer is a farm implement that deals with grasses that need to be cut, dried and baled and then moved.
That would be a bail hook. Great shot of it!
Some might call this instrument a backscratcher, but they are wrong, as that was earlier in the week. This is a second cousin to an ice hook, and we call it a 'hay bale hook.'
Hay hook
A croquet mallet for people who like to win, by any means necessary! I'd say that kind of attitude has been around for centuries!
September 9th, 2011
I think it's an old bale hook. We old people used to use them to grab and move bales. Nowadays we leave that to the young people to do using fork lifts.
WAG! The cane used to get bad performers off the stage (just need to be different ;-)))
