This was taken for our Teacher Year Planner at school. They wanted a photo of the Te Reo Maaori teacher and another teacher greeting each other in the traditional Maaori way with a hongi (they touch noses). The man is an English teacher who is actually from England. The students are doing a hongi in pairs as well.
@yorkshirekiwi@paul10 Thanks. @maggiemae See my other pic a moment later, lol! @happypat Lol, no just a path through the gardens in school. @alophoto I have to admit I find it a bit too close for comfort but sometimes it's the polite thing to do.
Such a neat photo and so awesome to take a look at a greeting in another cultural. Like Maggiemae said I don't think I could do it without laughing. Haha.
I like how the curved pathway creates a sense of the whole group showing a sense of unity and peaceful interaction, sharing the 'breath of life'. ( In the hongi, the ha (or breath of life), is exchanged.) Lovely image. Fav.
