Rangiriri Pa by nickspicsnz

Rangiriri Pa

We've had a new highway put through near our village and the old highway has been turned into a local road. Rangiriri Pa, which is the site of a historic battle between Maori and Europeans, is located next to the now local road and has been restored. I stopped off on Christmas Eve when I was on my way to do the last minute shopping to have a look around.

(I've hardly taken any photos over the last few days and certainly nothing very inspiring so created this collage for today's date.)
We called in on Boxing Day. I think they’ve made a good job of it. The car park always seems to have at least one car parked there. Just needs a decent cafe now

@yorkshirekiwi They have done it well - I wish there was a bit more information about what the trenches were used for as they're an odd shape. Apparently the cafe in Rangiriri is quite nice but haven't been there myself.
@susiemc Thanks Sue. Some great carvings here.
