That's what I always knew these frothy bubbles on plants to be called. I was today years old when I finally found out what they contained. I always knew they had bugs in them but never actually knew what sort, and didn't even think about it until today. Where would we be without the internet to provide us with instant answers? Turns out that the "spit" in New Zealand is a foam nest for Meadow Spittlebug (or Froghopper) nymphs.
Only five days left in October so I might actually have a photo in every date slot this month (although most weren't taken on the date). This could be my first completed month for... well, months!
