Monarch Butterfly Hatching

Further to my recent Monarch butterfly chrysalis collages, here's one showing a butterfly hatching. They're not brilliant photos as I was trying to take a video on my phone at the same time so didn't get a chance to adjust the focus as it moved about. I should have just concentrated on the photos! To get these shots I watched the chrysalis for about two hours in the boiling heat then it hatched, from first splitting open to having it's wings open, in about two minutes (shots 1-6). I'm really glad I got to see the magic though. I moved it to dry its wings (last shot) as I felt it was a bit too close to a cobweb. It sat on the string in the sun for a little while, to dry out, before flying away.
What an amazing collage with the different stages, the shots are great! Is mother nature not wonderful?

I managed to watch this with a preprimary class many years ago. It was fascinating and over so quickly.
