Today is my grandson Isaac's first birthday! Wow!! I can't believe this little boy (whose name means laughter) has been with us for one entire year. He brings us such joy and yes, laughter. What better way than to celebrate with a rainbow for the treasure hunt. I did capture some more conventional rainbows (although not the beautiful kind that appear after a rainstorm), but they didn't seem as celebratory as this one. So Happy Birthday Isaac!! @woot Sure is- Isaac is the first child of my younger son and his wife, but he is my third grandchild! Our fourth is due to my older son and his wife in April. We are definitely enjoying the role of grandparents!
@potsbypam Thanks Pam! It's really not as hard as it seems. I did this one in a pre-set "night scene" setting on my camera with a low ISO. The trick is to keep the shutter open as long as possible. In the days when I used a 35mm SLR this meant using the bulb setting. It's a little different in the digital age, but I'm pretty sure your camera is able to do it- check the manual. Once you've figured out how to set the camera it's just a matter of choosing a good light source. This of course was done with Christmas lights- but you can use any kind. Once you're holding the shutter open, move the camera in shapes or designs- letters, whatever and see what turns up. There are other variations on this, but that's the simplest way I know of. If I can do it, pretty much anybody can!
