You don't know which way the wind will blow, so how can you plan tomorrow?
Have you ever sat and watched a weather vane blow about on a blustery day? Yesterday the wind was tossing the one on top of our bell tower about like a beauty queen's hand in the Parade of Roses.
@cimes1 Thank you Carole. I really love this one too. The story goes that when the church was built, the leaders of the town asked the congregation to put a clock in the tower and they obliged. I think it also had a bell at one point, but now it's electronic. @karenann Thanks Karenann- it was a bit tricky since I was taking it from inside the car- but I managed to avoid the telephone wires and keep a bit of the tree in there. @sarasdadandmom Thanks Terry! @lisjam1 Thanks Lisa- I do too. @digitalrn Thanks Rick- yes quite blustery as Winnie the Pooh would say.
@bkbinthecity Thanks Brian! It's not Edmonton, but Milford does have some interesting buildings! @woot Thanks Davide! @alia_801 Thanks Alia!
The day was perfect for a black and white shot of the tower- overcast and windy, but not rainy. I think if I'd been working with film I might have been able to get the tower a little whiter without sacrificing the gray of the sky, but not with the digital. When I tried to lighten it up in the processing, the sky washed out too much, so I left it alone and stuck with this. I do like how moody it looks. I just wish I'd been able to capture the wind- the weather vane was going back and forth and back and forth...
Love all the corners in this. I think you do get a sense of the vane blowing - our eye paints it in because normally we see a vane on a flat side, not at an angle.
@dmariewms Thanks Marie! I apologize for getting behind on your pictures- once again! I have one small project to complete today and then I'll be catching up.
@memphis Thank you so much Samantha. I feel like I am learning so much on 365. I am weak when it comes to the technical stuff, but as I'm only using a p & s, I can get away with it! But I do feel my ability to see pictures has improved from looking at others' shots which I admire. I hope mine inspire others as well.
