According to Robert Barney, an author who researched Olympic history, the idea of interlocking rings came to Pierre de Coubertin when he was directing the USFSA, a French sports organization. The symbol was officially adopted after WWI and officially debuted in the Games of the VII Olympiad in Antwerp, Belgium in 1920.
Love your info ... you are educating me in so many areas, Ann. Love your processing ... it's beautiful. Great textures and colors!! This has a lot of depth and boldness.
Thank you Peter, Carla, Allison, Sheri, Kerri, Colleen, Henri, Elizabeth, Carole, Lyn, Karenann, Juliette, Vikki, Paula, Wendy and Kathryn!
Thank you so much for all the great feedback. I'm glad you're all enjoying the Olympic history lessons- I'm learning it right along with you! And thanks for the compliments on the abstract aspect of the shot. @paulavdmerwe I will have to check the weekly theme out. I often forget to look there! @sparkle Thanks for stopping by Juliette! @summerfield- I'm sure you have something and I'm sure you'll come up with a creative way to photograph it too! @daisy Wow Kathryn- Andy Warhol?! Thanks!
And thanks to all who liked the processing. It's the duo-tone effect in iPiccy- the colors adjusted to emphasize the yellow.
@sparkleplenty1 Thanks Joyce! Yes, it had to be black with the yellow for this shot. The star just seemed like night time but blue wasn't night enough.
@alia_801 Thanks Alia! I think my creative side wanted to do the thumbnail thing again! Once I settled on the silver shot, I thought why not do the same subject all week for the colors. But "this is a silver star", "this is a blue star", etc. seemed rather boring, thus the info commentaries emerged! @myautofocuslife Thanks Livia! I'm glad you're enjoying "the class". @sangwann Thanks Dione! I'm glad you're enjoying the info. @cimes1 Thanks Carole! I'm glad like the Olympic "lessons".
I love how you used the same metal mold to make your colors! This looks great in thumbnail..and i like you was still thinking of the thumbnails when i was getting this weeks photo's !! lol! Great Job..thanks for all the research also!
