Sunday's question asked, "Where do you worship or who's in your family?" This is the walkway that leads to our church's front door. I had hoped to sneak up to the balcony during the service to take a shot, but didn't really have the opportunity. You may wonder why that was important to me. Well, in many ways, the people of my church are like family to me. Along with our faith, we go through the joys and trials of life together. When my father died, my church family surrounded me with love and comfort. When someone has a baby, we all rejoice with them. We pray for each other through sickness, job changes and loss, through big and little decisions and anything else that life throws our way. When I'm sad that my own family is not close by, my church family fills some of the void. I'm glad to be a part of this family of faith.
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri! @mrssmith Thanks Carla! I kept going back and forth between this shot and one which included the clock tower. I finally decided on this because it's just a little different and I like how the sidewalk draws you to the front door too. @httpgeffed Thanks Colleen! @wenbow Thanks Wendy! @daisy Thank you Kathryn! @cortens Thanks Julie! @lyno Thanks Lyn! I was out of town last week. I went to Boston with a friend and originally I was supposed to be able to get on line, but her laptop decided not to cooperate at the last moment which is why you haven't seen me posting or commenting for a while. I am now slowly trying to get caught up on both!
Fabulous perspective.....I love how the door is open, appearing to say "welcome." The colors are great. How wonderful to have such a supportive church family.
beautiful composition! the walkway leads you in and that opened door is very welcoming. have you ever featured this church or parts of it at some point in your album? i like the rounded top of the windows, and the design above the architrave. it's a modern building but from what i see, there's nary an item of modernity attached to it ( unlike some of the old churches i've seen where spotlights had been installed, out of necessity and safety perhaps, but really took away from the beauty of the buildings), and if there's any the builders really made sure it fused in with the overall look of the structure. why, you can probably have a same-subject week or month with this building!
Oh this is lovely!! I I always enjoy church buildings that have pretty detailing to them. This walkway is beautiful, I can't help but picture a bride walking down this. I also like to door partially opened, it's welcoming.
@sangwann Thank you Dione! @summerfield Thanks Vikki- yes, I've featured shots indoors and outdoors, daytime and nighttime. It's a photographer's dream. This part of the building was built in 1825, however there is a more modern addition (haha it's over 60 years old now!) in the back. We are on the corner of a main street and well traveled side street so there are street lamps that take care of some of the walkways. There are no light attached to the front since the town itself is rather historic and they try to maintain that to an extent on the older buildings. There is a clock tower, rather than a steeple and that is lit at night. And yes, I could easily do a month of shots with this building. @prttblues thanks Bev! @zandme Thanks Tasha! I can picture that bride too- great visual!
Nice pov. I can totally agree with you on the church members being like family. Our church has been such a blessing to us in so many ways over the time we have attended there
