The trees are hinting at the beautiful colors which will soon appear. Since we had a relatively dry summer (many of you had much drier ones!) the reds should be quite breath-taking this season. I'm hoping this little harbinger is a representative of the colors to come. But I know I'm going to miss checking in with my father each week to see when the foliage in Vermont peaks.
@httpgeffed Thank you Colleen! @cimes1 Thank you Carole! @kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @paulavdmerwe Thank you Paula! @bkbinthecity Thank you Brian! Most of the time we have the golds and yellows too. It's only when we've had drier summers or droughts that we get these brilliant reds in the Oak trees. @pjonas Thanks Patty! Aspens look pretty in Fall too! @digitalrn Thank you Rick! It is coming on quicker than I thought it would.
Lovely shot, Ann - we're beginning to see signs of fall up here, too! I went to the Science Museum today to see the butterfly exhibit again - didn't you go there during your trip up this way?
@bruni Thanks Bruni! It's just a small smattering of trees right now, but I think by next Sunday we'll have a lot more. The nights are definitely colder and that's what seems to bring it on the fastest.
@ulpiphotos Thank you Ulpi! @peterdegraaff Thank you Peter! @kandernob Thank you Karen! @salza Thank you Sally! It's a real stand-out leaf right now. If the tree continues to turn like its first leaf did, it's going to be beautiful! @alia_801 Thanks Alia! @la_photographic Thank you Laura! @sangwann Thank you Dione! @michelle58 Thank you Michelle! Enjoy your Spring! Once the winter weather hits here, I'll be wishing for it to come soon!
@olivetreeann Ann I agree with you there..we always see the gorgeous colors when driving up to Bobcaygeon to celebrate Thanksgiving with the family. ours is on October the 8th and by then all the colors should be enhancing the drive along the country roads we take.
one night of frost and that should bring out all the colours. well, that's what (former) farmer partner said. but some places here aren't showing any signs at all. very nice shallow dof. i like it!
@summerfield Thanks Vikki- yes the cooler nights seem to be doing the trick. I want it to take its time. I'm in no rush for what the colder weather is going to do to my joints this year.
@ubobohobo Thank you Margaret! Right now the days are still comfortable and although some nights have been cool, nothing is really cold-yet! In about a month, I will be looking forward to that "burst of spring"!
A little thrill goes through me when I see the first color. I saw a few leaves on the ground past two weeks ....saw first whole tree at whole foods in their parking lot....whiole thing a deep red. So pretty
@espyetta Well, it's looking even more colorful this week and peak is supposedly next weekend. Thanks MaryBeth- I think it's going to be a colorful year.
@edie Thank you Edie! This was the first really colorful leaf in my backyard and I was so excited that the tree would be covered in these colors. But it was short lived as the rest of the leaves came in more yellow and brown. It's still pretty but not as pretty as this!
