Jeff

If I had to choose one item that represents my husband Jeff it would be this- his Fender Stratocaster. He's had it since high school and still plays. As talented as he is with an acoustic guitar and the five-string banjo, if you asked him, he'd tell you his heart is in Southern rock and blues. His heart's desire these days is to video record himself playing each one of those instruments so that the grandchildren will always be able to hear him play; a desire that grew out of the fact that we will never be able to hear my grandfather play the banjo we inherited from him. So far he's recorded the Olson (acoustic) and the Gibson (banjo). He's finally located a drummer and if all goes well, the Strat will be up on YouTube by late Spring.

This is a beautiful shot, Ann. Love the focus. That's great your husband wants to leave a video of his music for his grandchildren!

@kerristephens Thank you Kerri!
@mrssmith Thank you Carla! Yes, he's very determined. He likes to do it all himself, so I'm usually not involved in the "filming"! With the electric though you definitely need a band, so it's been hard to find a bass and drummer to learn the material and record. But most of that has been resolved now, so it's a matter of practice before they record.
@dakotaburns Thanks Donald!
@httpgeffed Thanks Colleen! Yes, it's a classic!
@eudora Thank you Diane! He really does and both our grandsons are fascinated when he plays the acoustic or the banjo. I can't wait to see their faces when he plays the electric!

An awesome goal, and such an importnt thing to do to pass on. Your view of the beautiful instrument is outstanding Ann.

It's an electric guitar! This is a wonderful idea - put him on a video playing - how wonderful for the future generations!

LIke the angle and POV on this shot, very cool

Stunning pov, Ann. Great capture. Your husband must be a great musician to play all those instruments. I can only play the radio.

@maggiemae Thank you Maggie-yes, this is his first love. He purchased it used and now it's a treasure!
@dmariewms Thank you Marie!
@eniaral Thanks Laraine! He wants to play in Milford's Musicfest this year.
@bkbinthecity Thanks Brian!
@jplovescotton Thanks Janice! It had to be special and although I'd taken a few others when this went up on the screen- pow! I knew it was THE shot.

@pflaume Thanks Lisa!
@filsie65 Thanks Phil! If you'd like to see him playing the banjo or the Olson, his channel is Bigfatskinee. He does have an acoustic up there that is in the blues style, but I can't think of the name of it right now- I think it's something like Blues 36 or something to that effect.
@alia_801 Thanks Alia! His nieces and nephews have already dubbed him "the cool uncle" so he's on his way!
@simster Thank you Simmy!
@sangwann lol Dione- thank you! I bet you can play cards too!

How wonderful!!! Look fwd to the video on You Tube. Great shot with the POV, lighting and shadows. Must be funny to have a hubby who entertains you with his music!
February 2nd, 2013
@cimes1 Thank you Carole! Of all the years we've been together, he's only written one song for me! But that's ok- I've never felt that I am the kind of person you immortalize in a song! But I do enjoy it when he's practicing and I'm on 365, both of us artistically involved with the form of art we love best.

Beautiful shot! That is wonderful he is doing that. A friend and I were talking today and she was telling the very same story about doing the video's of hubby (their grand dad) playing and singing, so they will have that. Very, very special gift, priceless :-)

Great perspective. Great for the portrait without a person. Great story. I am glad he is making these videos.

Nice guitar photo Ann. I really think you ought to post a link to one of the videos ... he's really very good, folks!
February 5th, 2013
@automaticslim Thank you Andy- knowing Jeff, he would want me to post a link that showed him playing the Strat, not the Olson. So, I will try to remember when he's got the video up to come back and add it in.
