Garden Hose Nozel

I really like how overexposing this shot "uncluttered" the background.
I agree, I like it

That turned out great! I've always liked nozzles. So much texture and interest!

Great b&w
February 20th, 2013
Just the right processing.
February 20th, 2013
ah ha I see how that can work.

@digitalrn @deniseinindy @kerristephens @allie912 @fullcircle

Thank you Rick, Denise, Kerri, Allie, and Cindy!! I'm much happier with this one!
February 20th, 2013
Turned out great!
February 20th, 2013
Just the right amount of overexposing..nicely done..
February 20th, 2013
Beautiful in its simplicity! You should tag for Eye of the beholder, think it's eotb3.
February 20th, 2013
Very cool effect! I will have to remember that. Looks great. Love how much detail you got in the stone, too.

Bev
The nice thing about overexposure is it gets rid of what you don't want people to see! Nice shot! Well done! :)
February 20th, 2013
Cool! Great idea!
February 20th, 2013
The texture and light on this is super. (I often increase shadows for the same effect... must remember the same works true in reverse!)
February 20th, 2013
Cool!
February 20th, 2013
True. Good shot -- I like how that lone drop made it into the shot.

@httpgeffed @smithak @salza @pflaume @prttblues @alia_801 @filsie65 @sangwann @dakotaburns

Thank you Colleen, Smitha, Sally (thanks for the tag tip), Bev, Alia, Phil, Dione, and Donald (didn't even see the drop until it was uploaded on the computer- bonus!!) Much happier with this one!
February 20th, 2013
@pflaume Sorry Lisa- missed putting your name in the list above!
February 20th, 2013
Nice shadowy look. BTW, picked up my matzo ball soup ingredients yesterday and look fwd to having it for lunch today ;-)
February 20th, 2013
You're right it did Ann. Nice pov and I like the effect.
February 20th, 2013
@cimes1 Thanks Carole! Enjoy your lunch! I'm eating mine on the run today- although soup would be so much better! Well, time to go!!
@tara11 Thank you Tara! I like this one much better than yesterdays- it looks like it's supposed to be this way as yesterday's looks like it was an accident.
February 20th, 2013
Interesting fade into high key... like that. Creative use of the technique.
February 20th, 2013
I like this in black and white too. Great idea to make this simple object look more detailed.
February 20th, 2013
I like how your overexposure allows you to focus on the detail in the nozzle ... very fun week you've created!
February 21st, 2013
You are doing great with these ordinary items
February 21st, 2013
I love the drop of water about to fall!
February 21st, 2013
exposure compensation, that's it! I knew I read about that dial thingy somewhere... now I just need to figure out how to use it again!
February 21st, 2013
@netkonnexion Thank you Damon! It's been a week of learning what does and does not work!
@mrssmith Thank you Carla!
@still_beachradish Thank you Beachradish! I take that as high praise as I really do consider you to be one of the best photographers with this technique!
@bkbinthecity Thank you Brian!
@jplovescotton Thank you Janice! That was a bonus that I did not see until I uploaded the picture.
@alia_801 lol Alia "that dial thingy" don't confuse me with all that technical talk! Actually what was interesting today is that I thought I'd try overexposing by playing with the AWB today and discovered that my camera won't let me do that when I'm shooting in black and white mode. So that was a bit of a bummer.

Good composition and textures. This week of overexposure is certainly a learning experience for me.
February 22nd, 2013
@daisy Me too Kathryn! This shot and the tulip shot are the ones I'm most pleased with- the tulip one being exactly what I've been trying to do with all of them. Needless to say, I'm actually looking forward to the week being over!! I feel like I've run out of subjects.
February 22nd, 2013
Faving again. I love the textures and light in this. So simple but so gorgeous.
February 22nd, 2013
I agree that this one has turned out better, you have a nice full range of tones in this. Good work.
February 22nd, 2013
@edie Thank you so much Edie!!!
@automaticslim Thank you Andy! I've been trying different perspectives and "reasons" for over exposing on these shots. I don't think I've come anywhere near mastering it or even doing it properly, but it's been a good lesson on what my camera can and can't do. Interestingly, I have more ability to manipulate the overexposure when I shoot in color than I do when I shoot in b/w, but the whole month is about b/w so I will have to play with color another time!
February 22nd, 2013
I agree and added to the strength of the overall look! beautiful black and white.
February 23rd, 2013
@moreyoulessme Thank you Jerri!
February 23rd, 2013
This is a great image, I like the little drop of water.
February 23rd, 2013
@nicolecampbell Thank you Nicole! I didn't see the droplet until I uploaded the shot. It was one of those "Ooooo!" moments!
