From the scrapbook Mom made for me. She wrote: Father's Day 1961, Daddy with his new freezer.
Making our own ice cream was always a treat when I was growing up. I loved cranking away at that handle knowing the creamy delight it would produce. Licking the churn was the best!
Not only has my dad brought me a lot of joy, so has ice cream!!
We did this too! We had a cedar exterior, hand crank ice cream maker. And since this was long before plastics and those "balls" you can put ingredients in, roll them around, and make ice cream, it WAS a huge treat. My dad was always in charge... And we kids took turns cranking. I wish I had a pic of it... Just terrific! Thanks for the walk down memory lane. Fav btw..you are adorable in this pic
This is a good photograph to copy so well! Black and white is excellent but maybe that's all they could do then! I do remember 1961 but don't remember icecream making equipment! Just as well, I love icecream!
What a sweet photo. I made homemade ice cream only once... On a beach with a mentor when I was 11. This is a very telling photo. You are lucky you have such a wonderful family with fond memories. Love this photo. :)
I apologize for being late on comments. I have been a bit out of commission and am just catching up now. Thanks for understanding!

A treasured memory of times shared together; what a heart-touching moment...Thanks so much for publishing this one! I wish we had one of those ice cream churns today. Fav.
@gratefulness Thank you Sandi! I go through these bouts of nostalgia (part of the grieving process) and the pictures are not only helpful to me but fun to "restore" on 365. I'm sure I'll be posting more. Thank you so much for the follow by the way! I'm looking forward to walking around Marion with you and seeing it through your pictures.
