Life has been very frustrating today. I took some shots for photography club breaking the rules of "keeping the camera steady and straight" and over-exposing the shot and was really looking forward to seeing some of my "experiments" on the large screen. But for some reason, my computer will not read the camera card-it's not even acknowledging the slot the camera card goes in. I've spent hours trying to figure how to get into my computer to see what kind of photo program I have in here but with no success. I tried importing the pictures directly from the camera but I do not have the right kind of connecting cord. So I gave up and shot off a few stupid shots with my Nikon- not really my favorite camera but it's good in a pinch- and tried to work with one of them. But ugh- it's just NOT what I wanted to post today. I tried to imitate one of the shots I took with my Canon, but oh well, I'm not going to complain any longer. It's a pretty poor imitation and I need to get to bed on time tonight- big day tomorrow. Hope techno world was nicer to you today than it was to me!!
I hope you figure out your computer problems soon! sometimes technology just isn't a true friend at all... that being said it like the low contrast and soft grays...
I was feeling bad for you until you maligned your poor Nikon who only wants to help :( but I'm sure it feels rewarded that you used one of its pictures! It may have even in cahoots with your card reader...mmmm...Seriously, though, there's nothing wrong with this image! I like the angle, the deep line along the shade, and the soft tones.
sorry for all the tech problems! Such a frustration. I like this shot though! It represents well all I have been reading about the first lessons in the book club. I have the book on order and will join you soon. Good luck on your big day today!
Sorry it wasn't working for you. I know you are always more demanding of your shots than they deserve but I think your work is often practically perfect so that perfectionism works.
a lamp, isn't it? sometimes that happens to me, too. but right the next day it's working perfectly. let's just hope you didn't lose any of the shots and that you can use some of them still.
@bkbinthecity Thanks Brian! @taffy Thanks Taffy! My apologies! I know you shoot with a Nikon. I do prefer my little Canon but the Nikon is not bad- I am just not as familiar with it so I have to really think about what I'm doing with it. It's not as simple and straight forward as my Canon. However, it does have its strong points and the shots I took with it on Sunday came out really well! @digitalrn Thank you Rick! @nadaa Thanks Nada! @twr Thanks Timothy! @salza Thanks Sally! @sangwann Thanks Dione! @steeler Thanks Howard! @yaorenliu Thank you Yao! @alia_801 Thank you Alia! @pflaume Thanks Lisa! @pandorasecho Thanks Dixie! @la_photographic Thanks Laura! @maggiemae Thanks Maggie! @summerfield Thanks Vikki- yes, a lamp. @megmills Thanks Meg!
:( What a disappointment! At least the focus of the book club is all about the process and the learning, but bummer not to be able to share an example that shows what you wanted.
@prttblues Thanks Bev! You and me both need calming and soothing! @archaeofrog Thanks Katie! I was half the problem here as I did not want to read through the camera manual to figure out how to get what I want. However, I did accomplish that look the following day when I did the flag shot. I think I will turn my attention back to composition for the next few days and work more with different proportions like I did on day 1.
