Well, I had fun watching this little fellow today! Since the pumpkin had frozen and the seeds were unavailable for pecking, I put a handful of sunflower seeds in the pumpkin yesterday and the birds made good use of the easy meal. Today this squirrel discovered them and I was really surprised how close he let me get with the camera. When it came to posting a shot though, I couldn't choose just one!
@archaeofrog Thanks Katie! I put them in an order but it's not actually chronological to be honest. He was so much fun to watch and I was only a few feet away with the back door open when I took these shots.
I would've a hard time choose one out of all the fantastic pictures. to put seeds into the frozen pumpkin was clever too. fantastic picture. call it a fav.
@northy Thanks Northy! @mzzhope Thanks Hope! I had plans to toss it into an area where I thought it might produce a vine next year, but this is so much more fun to watch! And won't require endless visits with "Deer Off" either. @digitalrn Thanks Rick! I'm not sure but it seems highly plausible that he (or a relative) was. I'd never seen a squirrel peel a pumpkin skin like that before, but he did and then he ate what he peeled! @twr Thanks Timothy! @taffy Thanks Taffy! Check off a cute squirrel shot from the "list"! @salza Thanks Sally! @vickisfotos Thanks Vicki! @cimes1 Thanks Carole! @bruni Thanks Bruni! And thank you so much for the fav! I was surprised to see the birds going in there- but most of the pumpkin seeds are frozen now, so it seemed like a good alternative. @sangwann Thanks Dione! @pennyp Thank you Penny! @netkonnexion Thank you Damon! @alia_801 Thanks Alia! I was so excited when I knew I'd finally caught one with him looking at me- and yes, I laugh every time I see that expression. @henrir Thanks Henri! @nadaa Thanks Nada!
@alia_801 Thanks for the fav Alia! Much appreciated!! @nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole! And thanks for the fav! Yes, it appears that it may have been the squirrels. @yaorenliu Thank you Yao!
@allie912 Thanks Allison! Yes, this was a fun one- sort of an "after the fact" collage, but I do think the squirrels were the ones who first put the hole in there!
