So we finally arrived on the day I wanted to avoid at all costs during this challenge. But, there was no side-stepping it. It was a shot that had to be taken.
Last month, I entered my first photo competition. I'm still waiting to hear the results on that one (but I'm pretty sure I didn't win anything). And tonight I entered the photo exhibition world. Needless to say, I was intimidated by some of the amazing pictures on display. There is no way my camera can compete with the abilities of some others. But, in the creativity and composition department I do hold my own. The president of the camera club had been to Africa this year and his photos were on display in a separate room from the others (sort of like his own gallery). It was inspiring to look at his work and then discuss his approach to processing with him. So here I am dreaming that maybe some day I'll have a camera that will raise the bar on what I'm able to print and deciding that for now, I've discovered what my camera is best at and to stick with those shots!
congratulations on the exhibit. and remember, the mere entry to the contest is already a big win for yourself, to summon that courage and confidence is a success in itself. excellent composition and the colours are so lovely!
Great colours and composition - and selfie! :) Some of your shots are totally awesome so you are right to exhibit them :) It's not the camera that makes the pics, it's the person using it.
Hey, everyone starts somewhere Ann, and it is always fun to enter these competitions, and to see all the different approaches to art. Hey, way to go on the selfie
Now that wasn't too bad..I love your selfie and must say congrats for all the things you've achieved. you're truly an inspiration to us. wish I had your courage.
Thank you to one and all!! You are such an encouragement! It was exciting to see my two photos on the wall (the Old Barn and the Sunflower shots in case you wanted to know) and who knows, maybe one or both will sell. But really all those things you complimented me on have definitely been cultivated or are a result of what I've learned here on 365! So my success is your success too!
@archaeofrog Thank you Katie! I was hoping to find a way to take a selfie there- but I had to wait until I was alone. They don't know about my 365 habit yet!! @bruni No Bruni. I haven't heard from her recently- but funny you should mention it because I was thinking about her today and decided that I needed to leave her a note on facebook in hopes that she'd get it. It's in the back of my mind to call her in a day or two if she doesn't show up here soon. I know she's been feeling a bit low- as many do over the holidays, so, I'm hoping she's ok too. I'll let her know you were asking about her.
Thank you Ann. in one of her comments to me she wrote that she doesn't get many Christmas cards. I have her e-mail address and I'm in contact with her but it's not the same as receiving a card at Christmas. now if I give you my e-mail address do you think she would mind if you give me her address. I would really like to surprise her with a Christmas Greeting. hgbg@rogers.com. please put olivetreeann in the subject line. thanks so much.
@bruni Will do Bruni- I'll have that out to you on Tuesday via email. I have it around here somewhere because I sent her pics of our meet-up in Vt. I just heard from Bev via facebook today. She's been taking some time off from 365 but still checks in on photos. I did let her know that folks have been asking about her but I think she would love to get a card. Good idea!
