We had some snowfall yesterday afternoon, but later on it turned in to freezing rain. This morning I woke up to an icy wonderland. But I didn't go out to photograph the ice until after lunch. By that time some of the ice had begun to melt, exposing some of the stones underneath and creating a really interesting pattern of dark and light spots. The color of these two leaves trapped under the ice caught my eye.
Looks like leaf cookies iced over. all I can think of is cookies lately. maybe I've not started to bake any..so my guilt feeling is coming to the surface. beautiful picture, Ann. thank you for replying to my request. will go out to look for a special card for her.

Thanks to one and all. You know when you really look at the world around you, you never go unrewarded. When I first glanced out the window, I thought, "oh, fog, the ice is melting." And then, I realized there was an interesting effect going on with the stones. Time to grab the camera and take a closer look!
@dakotaburns Thank you Donald! The semi-melted ice made this pattern over the entire back yard- I could have taken a thousand photos and no two would have been alike. It was really neat to see.

@northy Thank you Northy!
It's amazing to see the world transformed by ice. My camera is so-so at capturing the big picture, but macros like this, it does quite well.
