It was definitely the kind of day meant for staying inside and watching the fire burn in the woodstove. But I did pop outside for a minute to capture some of those pretty flakes making their way to earth.
Beautiful capture. Must have been really hard to keep the tree in such sharp focus and the bokeh on all the flakes, front and back. Is this one shot or stacked? Whatever, it is really well done and beautiful.
@eudora Thank you Diane! @yaorenliu Thank you Yao! I think the sentence makes perfect sense! @archaeofrog Thank you Katie! @caroleb Thank you Carole! This is one shot. I'm pretty sure that the camera was focused on infinity (that is the trees) and the reason why the snowflakes look like bokeh is because I used the flash to capture them. The larger ones are the ones that are the closest and the smaller ones are further away. But the snowfall in general was made up of very small flakes. The trees were very lacy to begin with but when I applied the Orton effect, they looked even lacier and I liked the way it looked so I kept it. Simple effects but high impact. @twr Thank you Timothy! @mzzhope Thank you Hope and thank you so much for the fav! @kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @sticksandstones Thank you Jennifer! And thank you so much for the fav!! It was definitely a pretty snowfall. @taffy Thank you Taffy! @sangwann Thank you Dione! @cimes1 Thank you Carole! It's the one upside of no leaves- seeing the lacework of branches and twigs. Thank you so much for the fav as well! @digitalrn Thanks Rick! It was a little blustery but mostly just steady with small flakes. We were only supposed to get 5 inches at the most but ended up with 9! @cabinfest Thank you Cabinfest! The overall effect is the Orton effect from Ribbet. But to start with I used a flash to catch the snowflakes. They bounce off the light and it makes them look like bokeh. @jackie8 Thank you Jackie! And thank you so much for the fav! It was definitely a pretty snowfall. @dodo63 Thank you Dodo63! It was certainly a pretty snowfall and it lasted all day which did give it that magical feel. Thank you so much for the fav!! @espyetta Thank you Marybeth! Yes, those are flakes. I used the flash to capture them falling. More light hits the ones that are closer to the camera so it makes them look larger.
@sticksandstones@crimes1@jackie8@mzzhope@dodo63 A special thanks to Jennifer, Carole, Jackie, Hope and Dodo63! Thanks to you my Snowfall shot is the first of mine to hit the Trending Page- wow- that's an honor!!
@la_photographic Thank you Laura! @syncope Thank you Natalie! That's from the flash. I like how it lights up the snow and actually gives you the impression that it's falling.
Nine inches! Oh, my goodness! That's a lot of snow. I'm so glad you have your wood stove to keep you warm. Have you taken a photo of it? I think the Orton effect works very well with this image. Really just a beautiful capture. :)
@pflaume Thank you Lisa and thank you so much for the fav!! @gratefulness Thank you Sandi! I have taken shots of it but not yet this winter. I'm sure it will show up at some point!
