We had another 4 inches of snow today. It fell from 8 AM until just after sundown. Jeff decided to stay home and my photography club meeting was cancelled this evening. So I've spent the day watching the snow fall and staying warm by the wood stove. There was a short time this afternoon that I decided to venture out for a few pictures and was delighted to capture this little snowflake on my car window. I've cropped this quite a bit but it seems to be holding its own in the clarity department. Not bad little point and shoot! Not bad!!
That's very cool. I can't wait to see if I can do that with my new camera. Something is telling me I'm going to have lots of opportunity to try for a close-up snow pic this winter. I can't wait to move to NC .... June needs to hurry up and get here.
@digitalrn Thank you Rick! @twr Thank you Timothy! @pflaume Thank you Lisa! I know you have a far better camera than I do so go for it!! I was pretty excited that I was able to crop this to bring out the detail- but I was really pushing the limit of this shot in order to bring out the detail. The best advice I can give is to go for a shot that has very little fuss in the background. @alia_801 Thank you Alia! @nicolecampbell Thank you Nicole! That's the plan!! @sangwann Thank you Dione! @mhatch Thank you Mark! And thank you so much for the fav!! @gratefulness Thank you Sandi! @prttblues Thank you Bev! And thank you so much for the fav too!! @vickisfotos Thank you Vicki! I'm sure you can get one- especially if I can with this camera! It likes macros and does them fairly well, so I made sure I had a good, clear shot and then kept cropping until the detail was clear. @twinsplusone Thanks Sharon! The best advice I can give is to make sure the background is clear and uncluttered so that the detail of the flake comes out. Believe it or not, this is my car window. But since it was a gray day and there was nothing reflecting in the window it was a perfect back drop. @daisy Thank you Kathryn! @maggiemae Thank you Maggie! Yes, I would agree that if I could get even closer it would be a better picture. Although this camera does well on macros, I'd really pushed the limit on the crop on this one. If you look closely on the black areas you can see some of it pixelating. With this crop I'd kept the rule of thirds balance pretty well, but if I was able to push it a bit more, I would definitely have gone in the direction you suggested. @pennyp Thank you Penny! You must live in a tropical place! @bruni Thank you Bruni! And thank you so much for the fav!! Does your camera have a macro setting? If it does, I'm sure you could get one. The key is to have an uncluttered background so that the detail of the flake stands out.
@summerfield Awwww- thank you Vikki! And thanks for the faviliscious vote or confidence!
