January first of 2014 marks the beginning of my fourth year on 365! Wow- when I think of my beginnings here, I realize I've grown quite a bit. My first year was a refuge from the depression which threatened to take over my life when I was no longer employed. 365 came into my life and charged up my creativity and gave me an outlet to express myself. In my second year I moved on to brighter days, took on more challenges and learned more about what my camera could (and could not) do. My third year brought me to new places that I'd never dreamed of going to before- competitions and joining a photo club! Without the support, encouragement and cheerleading from this wonderful community, I don't think I'd ever have entertained the thought of doing that. Another highlight from year three has been the pleasure of actually meeting 3 of my followers/my followees! How fun was that?! So my many thanks to Ross for creating this site and for each and every one of you who've encouraged me, commented on my photos and inspired me to try new things by the example of your own photography and challenged me to improve my craft. 365 is the best thanks to you!!
so, what are we doing in year 3? niagara should be planned (just as soon as i come back from my holidays) as part of 2014! you're one of the reasons i'm staying!

I love your shot and account of what 365 has meant to you. You are always so supportive of me. My fourth year starts Jan 2 (I was late as usual!) and I can't imagine NOT doing 365 in one form or another. Looking forward to 2014!
@eudora Thank you so much Diane! I'm starting off year 4 a little behind as well. A couple busy days and the family around made for less time on 365- but there's always time to catch up; not always time to be with family. Looking forward to 2014 and congratulations on your #4 too!
Hi, Ann. Shortly after reading your account here, I began a new book--God Is at Eye Level: Photography as a Healing Art by Jan Phillips. In chapter 2, she recounts how photography helped her cope with her disappointment and depression after leaving the convent. I don't usually recommend a book I haven't finished, but her story reminded me of what you'd written--and I was afraid if I waited till I finished it, I'd forget to tell you about it!
Congratulations!!!! Your narrative is so well expressed, Ann, and says it all. So happy you're staying on for Year 4. I always enjoy your variety of photos.
