Black and White Book Club 19

Hooray- finally found a somewhat low-key shot! Taken after the photo club meeting last night on the way to the car.

Thank goodness for the ACE membership perks! I forgot to tell you my editing info yesterday! After uploading this shot I decided it needed a little straightening, so I first adjusted that. It's a pet peeve of mine- I can't stand tilted pictures! I then sharpened the shot, bumped up the hue and saturation and in the exposure menu strengthened the contrast and shadows so that there were very strong black, gray and white areas- mainly the darker areas. I then converted the shot to black and white. I then gave it the "soften" effect, bringing a little of the "original" black and white shot back in. After that I added the "Orton" effect because I wanted softer and darker edges for the feeling of late night. Lastly I added the frame which blends in real nicely with the darker sections of the picture.
Great b&w

I like the lighting at the back one up the stairs and one down. They echoes with each other.

Thanks to everyone! I forgot to add the processing info for those who are interested but it's in there now. I'm pleased with how it came out and have come to appreciate the ability to "fiddle" around with these shots in post processing- it's a lot of fun!

@luvmynynix Thank you so much for the fav Laurie!!

Great capture -- so weird as these look exactly like our back stairs connecting our decks! They make a great low-key subject seen here!

there seems to be a hint of the sinister in this; like i'm expecting the grim ripper or its shadow appearing any time soon. yaiks! what image this evokes in me!

@lumynynix Thanks for the fav Laurie!
@summerfield Thanks Vikki! LOL I can't get over how people see this shot as being so scary and sinister. I think it's mysterious and dark like the night- but hadn't really thought of too dark or evil. But then, that's the subjective part of photography!
