Bethlehem Steel by olivetreeann

Bethlehem Steel

Our niece Katie and my husband Jeff are out running errands so while I have some quiet time on my hands I'm posting my pictures for the day.

We'll be heading out to the Middle Smithfield Township Hall for the opening of the Pocono Photo Club's show there tonight. So in honor of my "Rusty Latch" shot which is one of three photos I entered, I'm posting another shot from my get together with Rick and Marc at the Bethlehem steel works. As you can see I was playing with my new processing program again!
The editing has really bought out the textures and derelict feel, great work Ann!

I like the way the building looks, but I can't say the same for the sky. :-(

Awesome shot. I am still jealous that you got to go there.... Is it open or did you shoot from behind fences?

Nice shot, Ann. Your processing makes it look like a pastel drawing. Very cool.

The processing works so well here. Looks like a drawing as others noted.

Wonderful composition, so much to look at. The processing really makes the pattern elements stand out. I like it, fav.

@jackie8 Thanks Jackie!
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri!
@bill_fe Thanks Bill! I haven't figured out how to paint out part of the effects in this program yet. I might have done that on the sky had I known how. Thanks for the feedback.
@eudora Thanks Diane! We just wandered around the area and took pictures through the fences but apparently there is a tour too. I'm not sure how far in they allow you to go though. We could see plenty from where we were.
@bkbinthecity Thanks Brian!

Love the smoky feel to this

Once again, for the number of times I go past this scene, I've never framed it like this! Really well done and the processing is off the hook.

(p.s. can you also tag these bethlehemsteel with no hyphen? That's what I've always tagged mine... I'll tell rick too!

@neatz Thank you Anita!
@jmrittle Thank you Marc! Once again- you were an excellent tour guide!! I think that's one of the fascinating things about art/photography- no two people see the same object/subject in the same way. I had a couple shots of this building- some more focused on the stacks on top, but I wanted to go for this grungy processing effect and I thought the whole building was a better match for that effect. So, that's how this one ended up here. And I've fixed the tag.

I can see the Chinese characters on the wall. This place is full of photo opportunities. Enjoy.

@yaorenliu Thank you Yao! Oh yes, photo opps everywhere you look. I don't quite recall if this graffiti was actual letters or some sort of goofy scribbling.
