I'm catching up with photos before I finish my fourth year! No need to comment on this massive upload unless you really want to!
We were in Jersey City on Sunday to see my niece in a concert. The music was wonderful and so was our meal afterwards. One thing I hadn't thought of was our proximity to NYC and in particular lower Manhattan. It was the first time I'd physically seen the Freedom Tower. I experimented with several settings on my camera (especially the "hand-held night shot" setting) and although some of the shots came out OK, there was nothing that I felt was 365 worthy except for this one. I did do some minor post-processing to make it even sharper and to bring out more of a contrast between the lights and the night, but for the most part it reminds of the magical way all the lights looked from across the river. I'm hoping to go back there some time (probably at my niece's final recital) with a tripod and really take some nice pictures. What a view!
This is a powerful capture to think about, each light is an apartment and a family. Many of them they don't even know their neighbor, NYC --as much as I love it-- can be very impersonal. Fantastic way to present it. FAV.
Great shot, Ann. I love the city lights. You can sort of see some of the people in those windows. It makes you wonder what they are doing in these lit up rooms. I still have to upload my Boston trip to my FB albums. I've got some great night shots from our high floor window! It's been ages since I've been to NYC. The last time I went was with my friend Jess (who died a year ago today) and my daughter. So glad that you enjoyed your niece's concert. Did you record it? What kind of concert? Singing or band?
@prttblues Thanks Bev! It was a choral concert with piano and a small orchestra. They did some really beautiful pieces. Quite impressive! I have been trying to get on fb all day to post her solo but for some reason I can't get in there.
Hi, Ann. I hope you don't mind, but I put a link to this shot in one I posted today. This photo inspired me to go out and do some night photography. That is one of the things that is so great about this site! Thanks.
@alia_801 Thank you Alia! It was just a "day" trip- into New Jersey for her concert and then back home. @eudora Thank you Diane! And that's fine- wow- I'm honored that it inspired you. I was wishing the whole time that I had a tripod, but I'll be getting one tomorrow, so the next time we're there, I'll be ready! @altadc Thank you Alta! @nicolecampbell Thank you Nicole! They could be offices too- I'm not sure. But yes, I kept thinking about all the people they represented.
My heartfelt thanks to you for your thoughtful comments and favs! They were fun to read and made me smile.
