In Memory of Aunt Peg

My father was one of five children, first son, second child after his older sister Margaret, who came to be known as Peg. Today we celebrated her life with family and friends and it struck me as to how truly remarkable her life was. She was born in 1921, married during WWll and raised a family against the backdrop of the turbulent 60's. She is survived by her two youngest siblings, her four children, 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. To say family was important to her would be a gross understatement! It was quite moving to hear testimonials from all three generations during her memorial service but even better to share stories at the repast afterward. My cousins and I all remarked at how blessed we are to have been born into this family. One thing Aunt Peg loved was family history and now her daughter BJ and I will be the next generation that carries on her legacy of documenting our roots and family stories. Many of you have already seen plenty of my family archives, but I felt today was a special day to honor the lady who probably instilled the love of old photos in me. I still have many of the notes she wrote to accompany the copies she gave me. This one came from my father's photo collection. It's Aunt Peg with my great grandfather (my father's grandfather). Believe it or not, her smile never changed! And I know she's smiling now as well in a beautifully glorious place.

Farewell Aunt Peg- you will never be forgotten!
What a cool old photo

What a charmer! My mother in law was also a Peg and we named our daughter for her but call her Meg. So many nicknames for Margaret.
