Determination by olivetreeann

Determination

Firmness of purpose; resolve.

Mushrooms may be one of the most determined plants around. I can't believe all the nooks and crannies in the wood pile they have chosen to sprout up in. But they grow and thrive! This one nestled between the bark and trunk particularly caught my eye as I stacked wood today.
I wonder what use they are in life! Very neat focus - a fragile little fungus!

@maggiemae It's been too many years since I took ecology and biology- but I would imagine that they aid in the deterioration of dead trees and other decaying matter on the forest floor.
@radiogirl Thank you Kathy!

@grammyn Thanks Katy!

Such lovely textures here! Mushrooms are so interesting...some of them change so quickly. I could snap two photos a few hours apart and get two totally different images.

Glad I found this. I too find mushrooms quite interesting. I have a whole area in my garden where they seem to pop up over night ,only to fall over and shrivel up when the sun hits then the next day...I call them my vampire mushrooms but no idea what type they actually are.
