Tree Down on Chestnut Street by olivetreeann

Tree Down on Chestnut Street

Sunday afternoon began with sun, clouds and blue sky, but before the afternoon was over a huge storm blew in with gusty winds and heavy rain. In Judy's neck of the woods, a big tree was toppled by the storm. This picture does not really do the scene justice, but the tilt of the telephone pole does give you some perspective of the force of that tree coming down.
Oh no! Great documentary shot!

Oh my gosh, that's always so destructive when winds get wild. Nice story shot.

Oh no! Looks like a lot of damage to that beautiful tree. There seems to be wild weather everywhere at the moment. There's huge floods in Tasmania, as well as much of Australia's East coast too.

Glad it went into the street and not on a house.

At least it doesn't appear that the power lines were damaged. Great capture to show it off.

What a shame to lose a tree like that. Thankful nothing was damaged other than the tree.

Thank you my friends! Sadly the tree is separated from its roots and from a look inside the trunk has not been healthy for a while although it appeared so on the outside. So once the power company takes care of the wires, I suspect it will be cut up by the town and hauled away. I hate seeing trees cut down, but this one came down in Mother Nature's time. It's still sad but at least it is the way nature works and not the hands of man.

For those who asked- we're completely fine- and so was everyone on this block. The only casualty here was the telephone pole. We lost power for about 30 seconds during this storm and wondered why. After seeing this, I'm pretty sure it was the reason.
