I don't know what this gadget is called but I've used it to crinkle cut carrots and make wavy patterns on cake icing.

I think it is just called a crinkle cutter. I used to use it when the kids were small for chopping potatoes to make crinkle chips, carrots and other vegetables including cucumber etc.

Thanks to one and all- and yes now that many of you mentioned it, crinkle cutter does ring a bell! I'd forgotten about using it for potatoes- will have to remember that!
