Back in August I realized my grandson Sam had truly out-grown the "kid's" camera I'd given him a few years ago as a Christmas present. So when we went on a photo walk around the yard together I let him use my Olympus point and shoot. I noticed he was really enjoying the ability to use a real camera and asked him if he'd like a camera like that to use all the time. He was really excited at the prospect so I decided to "upgrade" my Olympus and will pass on the other to him as his Christmas present. This newer version seems to have an excellent macro and a few other improvements so today I played around with it for a bit. This shot impressed me with the detail on the feathers.
Your grandson will be thrilled with his Christmas present and I am sure he will enjoy having a great teacher as you to help him along his photographic journey
Very lucky grandson! Maybe he will have some of your creativity. Love this macro shot of the feather. You said it was black but appears red. Very creative!
Thank you for your views and comments! I know Sam and I are going to have a lot of fun together- we always do- and I think this is going to be his artistic niche between two very talented sisters!
Sam's a lucky guy. The focus and zoom are very good. Thinking about a point and shoot to carry around on days when I'm not shooting. You'll have to tell us how you like this one.
@randystreat I liked my other Olympus for a point and shoot and it was handy to have in the purse when I wasn't carrying around my T3i. This one is a step up from that one as far as focus and clarity. It has most of the same features and has the added bonus of being waterproof. Since Jeff wants to take me out canoeing in the Spring, Summer and Fall next year, it was the right camera for the job. I'd highly recommend it even if you're not planning to be on the water. As you can see from above it's great with colors and macro, but it does a nice job with landscapes and other subjects.
Great close up. This is a great camera. Especially the function of the microscope. I liked it, but I gave it to my son. He is a biologist and is very useful in the field.
Thank you so much for your favs Marilyn, Clare, Corrine, and Koala!
