@shutterbug49@leggzy It's rare that I start out knowing where I want these abstracts to end. Sometimes I have a color palette in mind but most of them start with a picture that I think would be fun to play with. it doesn't have to be a good picture either! On some of them I do the basic, sharpen, saturation, contrast enhancements but most I just leave as is and start playing. I might try cropping the shot in an unusual way, turning it on its side or upside-down, changing the color of the object so it's not as recognizable or converting it to monochrome if the contrast is strong. I will play with these options back and forth until something brings out a reaction in me. If I'm satisfied it's unrecognizable enough I might stop there, but most times I keep going by then diving into the different effects my photo-processing program has. I have a few I use, but the one I use the most is Smart Photo Editor. In this phase I may apply only one effect or I may apply several- and again it just boils down to what grabs me. There's really no rhyme or reason to it. The better ones are those that evoke some sort of emotion or visual reaction but all in all I like them to be fun to look at. This one started out as a high-key shot of some glassware in my window. It was cropped and turned on its side and has several layers of effects applied to it but I don't remember what they are now. When the last effect brought out these colors I knew it was finished.
The harbour seals like to swim up behind the kayaks and snort, I just about jump out of my skin.
How do you create these abstracts?!? Or would you have to kill me if you told me?...lol
