Jeff and I live near the Delaware Water Gap, a unique point along the Delaware River, that cuts a jagged edge between New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We are a good two hour drive from New York City and the Jersey Shore. I'm not sure what that equals in mileage, but let's just say we should get lots of rain and some strong winds from Irene, but not anything near to what the Carolinas or Cape Cod will see. But as you can see from the collage here, some folks in our community are a little geographically challenged.
@sanera Thanks Samantha- this is WAY over prepared though. We are not going to get the worst of it- not even remotely close! @httpgeffed Thank you Colleen- I always appreciate peace and prayers. We are not near the coast, and have several mountain ranges separating us from it so this way beyond necessary! Thank you for your kind thoughts!
@karenann@kerristephens Thank you Karenann and Kerri. I know Karenann- in Florida you should do this when a hurricane is coming. The Poconos- not so much.
@cdford Thank you Cindy- that is a very sweet offer and I may just come visit you for fun some day! But we are really safe here. We will get rain and some winds, but most people are completely overreacting and the media hype loves it. We may get some power outages, but even that will be minimal. So, the above collage is sarcastic in nature- sorry to say!
@cdford Yes it would- I will keep you posted if the opportunity might arise! @mrssmith Thank you Carla- we are safe. We're nowhere near the trouble. This collage is a good representation of what panic can do in the most unlikely places! We should get some wind and rain but nothing like what they will get on the coast. But thanks for your concern. It's really touching!
@allie912 Well Allie, we did get some weather- not the 100 mph winds they expected- but we did get winds at about 40 mph. There were a few old trees that came down and took out the power lines and we were without electricity until 1:30 today, but all in all- this was not needed. The pictures are all of our clubhouse, which suffered no damages, just loss of electric. So, the expense of all these preparations was a little foolish. However, today since many families were without power, it did come to good use when the electricity came back on. They put on a pot of coffee, let people store their food or cook it, and even shower up if they needed. So some of it became a benefit to the community and I can't complain about that. In this place, in the context of any storm, the wisest thing to have is a generator- unfortunately, the clubhouse does not have one! I hope your area was safe and didn't have much damage. I have a lot of catching up to do- maybe I'll see some shots on 365.
